How To Tie a Fisherman’s Knot
Identify the tag and standing line: The tag line is the free end of the line you'll be tying the knot with, and the standing line is the main line that will bear tension.
Create a loop: Make a loop with the tag line by bringing it over the standing line and pinching it down to form a circle.
Pass the tag line through the loop: While holding the loop with your thumb and index finger, thread the tag line under the standing line and then back up through the loop you just created.
Wrap the tag line: Maintaining a loose loop, take the tag line and wrap it around the standing line 5-6 times. Imagine you're creating coils around the standing line with the tag line.
Thread the tag line again: Once you've completed your wraps, take the tag line and pass it back down through the center of the loop you've been holding with your fingers. This will thread it through the center of the coils you made.
Tighten and secure: Moisten the knot slightly for easier tightening (optional). With one hand holding the standing line and the other holding the tag line, slowly pull on both lines in opposite directions. This will cinch the knot down securely.
Double-check and trim: Once the knot is tight, give it a gentle tug to ensure it's secure. You can then trim any excess tag line close to the knot.
