The Uwharrie National Forest is a federally designated national forest located primarily in Montgomery County, North Carolina, but also extending into Randolph and Davidson counties. Established in 1961, it's the smallest of the four National Forests in North Carolina, encompassing roughly 50,645 acres. The forest is bisected by several state and interstate highways, including Interstate 73 and 74 which run along the eastern boundary.
